What are PC-7 Team
The team consists of eleven airplanes Pilatus PC-7 Turbotrainer, but just nine participate in the airshow, ten pilots - nine demonstration pilots and one spare pilot. Team pilots carries call-signs Turbo follows by number. In different of other teams, PC-7 Team have two leaders - first, #1 leads the team and second, who follow the team in last position in #9 plane, to ensure that all pilots caries exact position in the formation. #7 and #8 is the solo pilots. Also team includes one narrator, one photographer, one commandant, who is commander of the team, and technicians from its home base Dubendorf. Team training for the show just a week before the event. PC-7 planes was painted in orange color for fuselage and silver for wings scheme, till the end of 2007. For 2008 season, planes receives new paint scheme, in red and white. Teams planes don't use smoke generators.
PC-7 Team History
The other Swiss Air Force aerobatic team "PC-7 Team" (taken from the name of its planes), is established in 1987 for the occasion of the air force championships in Dubendorf. Then nine planes Pilatus PC-7 make a demonstration, presenting Swiss Air Force.
But the official founding of the team is in 1989, during the 75-year anniversary of the Swiss Air Force. Then the team receives its name. For the first leader of the PC-7 Team is designated Major Res Dubs, who is former Patrouille Suisse leader.
In fact PC-7 Team is not so active team like Patrouille Suisse, but nevertheless the team makes great impression of the public.
